The Unfolding Path-A Year in Jungian Creative Depth Therapy

  • Walking the Unfolding Path

This incredible year long, one to one Jungian Art Psychotherapy programme of support invites you to embark on a profound journey of self-discovery, transformation, individuation, and self-actualisation. These Jungian aspects are seen as the ultimate pinnacle and purpose of psychotherapy.

Through deep therapeutic conversations, creative exploration, and engagement with archetypal and symbolic work, we will navigate the landscapes of your unconscious to uncover hidden truths, integrate the shadow, and work towards your personal individuation where you will deepen your understanding of who you are beyond the expectations of others or the roles you play in your life.

Over approximately one year you will embark initially on a piece of creative pre-work and then access 15 fortnightly one to one depth psychotherapy sessions. There will be ongoing creative practice throughout and also creative ‘homework’ as agreed.

  • Creativity, Deep Processing, & Nurturing Support

Depth-oriented therapy can be intense and requires a different commitment of time and energy, plus time for reflective and creative practice. However, the reward is often a profound shift in how you will understand yourself and navigate your world.

This therapy is particularly well-suited to clients interested in deep self-exploration and willing to confront difficult emotions. It’s an ideal approach for those who find meaning in exploring the complexities of the psyche and who wish to navigate support at a creative level.

You do not have to be an artist or have a wealth of artistic tools to undertake this therapy. Actually some of the deepest and most profound work I have witnessed or created myself was done with very simple tools (a biro on paper for example).

I sometimes use the term ‘creative therapy’ rather than ‘art therapy’ as this work isn’t about art in any formal process whatsoever. For me creativity can be about using artistic tools but also writing, poetry, sculpture and model making, collage, craft, music and voice, meditative practices, and anything that you choose to work with to access your deeper individual Self through active creation.

There will be a focus on automatic drawing and writing as well as dreamwork (for those that dream) that I will also introduce you to at the pre-work stage if you are not already familiar with these important therapeutic processes.

Art & Creative Practice for Mental Wellbeing

  • Creativity for Our Mental Wellbeing

Art and creative practices are essential for mental health because they offer powerful ways to express emotions, process experiences, and foster self-awareness. Unlike verbal communication, art taps into a deeper, often subconscious, part of ourselves, allowing us to explore feelings that may be difficult to articulate. Whether through painting, drawing, writing, or music, creative expression provides an outlet for processing trauma, stress, and anxiety in a non-verbal, therapeutic way.

Engaging in creative activities can also activate a state of flow, where individuals become fully immersed in what they're doing. This can reduce stress, improve focus, and promote mindfulness, helping people stay grounded in the present moment. The act of creating can also boost self-esteem and foster a sense of accomplishment, as individuals see tangible results of their efforts.

Moreover, creativity encourages problem-solving and divergent thinking, which can lead to new perspectives on personal challenges. Participating in group art therapies can build social connections, reduce isolation, and provide a sense of community.

In short, creative practice is not just a leisure activity—it is a vital tool for emotional release, self-reflection, and healing. It nurtures mental well-being by helping individuals tap into their inner worlds and connect with their emotions in transformative ways.

  • A Creative Practice is a Vital Practice (& I'm Always Creating)

The dual creative practices of art and writing are my personal anchors.

I create figurative, abstract, and automatic art under the name Lori FitzDoodles (pls check out @lorifitzdoodles on Instagram) and I’m currently forever adding to my long term collection of musings and observations on what it is to be human, taken from my professional path as a therapist.

Currently I’m not selling any work and instead I’m promising myself space to create without implied or felt audience.

However if you would like to get in touch to discuss my creative practice or any of my previous projects to date then I would very much welcome hearing from you via the contact form on this website.
